Joanna Wielgolawska-Pilas

I specialize mainly in medical law, including cases involving medical negligence and in personal injury cases.

In 2011, I passed the bar exam and I was admitted to the District Bar Council in Warsaw. I graduated with a Masters in Law from the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University, Kraków. During my time as an undergraduate, I took part in the Erasmus/Socrates program and studied at the Law Faculty of the University of Greifswald. In terms of further education, I graduated from the School of Intellectual Property Rights at the H. Grocjusz Centre for Intellectual Property Rights.

Since 2015, I have been a member of PEOPIL (The Pan European Organisation of Personal Injury Lawyers) – a European organisation of lawyers that deals with compensation cases.

I regularly prepare expert legal opinions for lawyers from other jurisdictions on matters related to medical law and personal injury issues, and advise non-Polish lawyers on Polish compensation law.

I am honoured to currently hold the position of President for Medical and Pharmaceutical Law in the Regional Bar Council in Warsaw.

I have authored many articles and other pieces on medical law and publications; indeed, my articles have often appeared in the most widely-read daily press.

In 2016, I was a finalist of the competition run by Wolters Kluwer and Gazeta Prawna – “Rising Stars – leaders of tomorrow”. I was awarded for my achievements in the field of medical law, and my commitment and ability to find non-standard solutions.

I work both in Polish and in English, and also speak German.
